A common question we receive is related to how long you should expect to wait for Walmart to reach a decision on a deduction dispute that you've submitted. To answer that question, first we need look at how the dispute process works.

When you submit a deduction dispute through SupplyPike:

  1. A claim dispute is submitted via Walmart's Accounts Payable Dispute Portal (APDP)

  2. Genpact reviews and approves the dispute

  3. Walmart issues repayment on a check

How long does it take for Genpact to review a claim?

There are several factors that can impact the time it takes for a dispute to be reviewed.

We have historically seen an average of 45 days to be Approved.

Some disputes may be approved within 7 days. This is due in large part to automation on Genpact's side that will automatically approve certain disputes in certain scenarios, usually involving smaller dollar amounts. However, it is more likely that your dispute could take more than 7 days to be approved. Here are factors that we see impacting the speed of dispute resolution:

  • Genpact's workload - Genpact regularly reports that they have a long queue of disputes to review, slowing down review times. We have seen longer review times during Q3 & Q4.

  • Dollar Amount of the dispute - larger dispute amounts are more likely to require manual review and a higher level of approval.

  • Type of claim - certain claims are more complex to prove, and thus more complex for Genpact to review.

  • Type of dispute - dispute types vary by location/team (Warehouse, Store, Sam's, Dotcom), and country. Some teams at Genpact are smaller or more backed up than others

How long does it take Walmart to issue payment on an approved claim?

Once a dispute has been approved, repayment typically happens quickly. We see an average of 6 days between dispute approval and repayment on a check.

What does this mean for your repayment?

If you have been waiting more than 14 days for an approved dispute to be repaid, reach out to GBS to request repayment. In our analysis, only 2% of Approved disputes take longer than 14 days to be paid, and so anything longer than that likely indicates a mistake on Walmart's end. Being proactive will ensure that you are paid what you deserve.
