Frequently Asked Questions

What are Walmart Post Audits?

Post Audits occur when the retailer and their third party audit firms go through historical records and identify areas where they feel that the retailer did not collect all monies due to them. With Walmart these audits can happen up to 2 calendar years after an event.

What types of audits can SupplyPike help with?

Our experienced team is equipped to handle various types of Walmart Post Audits, including:

  • Excessive defective merchandise

  • Allowances not given (New Store, Promotional, etc)

  • Failure to combine loads

  • Pricing differences

  • Recover price protection

  • Freight for orders not shipped in full

  • Other less common audit types not covered above

What does SupplyPike's Audit Recovery Service entail?

The service covers all aspects of post audit research and disputing, from reviewing the initial audit notification and identifying underlying issues, to conducting comprehensive research and presenting a strong defense on behalf of the client. We also make recommendations for process changes to help your team to avoid (when possible) or to be better prepared for similar audits in the future.

What will you need from my team when researching and fighting an audit?

Your SupplyPike auditor may have questions or requests for information (such as emails) while they research your audit, but all of the research work is handled by our team. Disputes for audits are raised with the auditing firm who issued the claim, and SupplyPike can handle that communication on your behalf if you choose. We will always align with your team on strategy before offering/confirming anything with the auditors, and we will keep your team cc'ed on all emails and present in any conversations with the auditing firm. If a partial repayment offer is made by the auditing firm, your team will have the final say on acceptance. Some audit disputes might require communication with your buyer to seek approval. SupplyPike will never contact your buyer directly. If your buyer needs to get involved, we recommend that your team initiates that conversation, and your SupplyPike auditor can provide guidance as necessary.

Is SupplyPike allowed to communicate with auditors on my behalf?

Your SupplyPike auditor will defer to your team regarding the level of communication you are comfortable with us initiating. If you prefer your team to handle communication with the auditing firm, we can support you in that. Many suppliers prefer to introduce SupplyPike as their representative in negotiations and leave the work to us. SupplyPike will never communicate or negotiate on your company's behalf without your team being present or cc'ed.

How long does it take SupplyPike to research an audit?

Our team aims to have all research for an audit completed within 5 business days of kickoff. This is dependent upon timely response from the supplier if additional data is requested by our team.

How successful are you in disputing post audits?

The success of a post audit dispute depends on many factors, but on average we see that more than 50% of audit claims are at least partially invalid and can be recovered in full or in part.

Can you dispute any audit?

SupplyPike can assist with any audit as long as it has never been disputed or partially repaid. Audits that have been disputed or partially repaid in the past are no longer able to be disputed.

How far back will you research?

Any audit that has not been disputed or partially paid back by Walmart is open for review, but it is recommended to dispute a post audit within 6 months to a year of receiving it.

What information will the Supplier need to provide?

SupplyPike can access most information needed for most types of audits. For audits regarding pricing or promotions, the supplier may be asked to provide emails to support the information needed to research.

How much does SupplyPike's Audit Recovery Service cost?

Suppliers can opt-in to SupplyPike's Audit Recovery Service at no cost, and utilizing the service carries zero risk. When an audit arises, your team has the option to engage SupplyPike to research and fight the audit. The research is free, and SupplyPike is only paid if the original claim amount is reduced or repaid. Our fee is a small percentage of the amount recovered, and due to the technology that powers our research, our team is able to be far more efficient than traditional consultants. This means that we are able to charge well below the industry standard of 25%-30% of recovery.
